This necklace is made from solid .925 sterling silver and features a very special piece of agate gemstone. This gemstone captured my attention because it looks like there is a tiny fire elemental trapped inside it. Naturally I wondered how she got stuck in a gemstone and I believe the story goes like this:
There once was a fire sprite who was tasked with tending a garden.
Her favorite flowers were peonies. Every year when they were in bloom she would spend most of her time tending them. Smelling them, plucking dead leaves, and sleeping in them at night.
One night while she was sleeping a sorcerer captured her while she was inside a peony flower.
He was a collector of sorts and he imprisoned her in a glass dome for 100 years.
The sorcerer had an apprentice. A young woman who had a tender heart and magic coursing through her blood.
She befriended the fire sprite and came to care for her deeply.
When the young woman realized the truth about the sorcerers collection she knew she had to use her magic to free these trapped souls
The young woman confronted the sorcerer and they ended up in a duel.
During the duel the glass that encased the fire sprite broke and she was set free.
Seeing her friend in battle, the fire sprite decided to help. She took the sorcerer by surprise and struck him with her fire, but not before he landed a fatal blow.
The sorcerer was defeated, and the sprite was on her way to the underworld.
The young girl made her an offer, to pass into the next life, or to be turned into an enchanted stone that when worn gives the wearer the ability to wield the sprites fire magic.
The sprites chose to be turned into a stone and she spent the next 100 years around the young girls neck. Together they helped those in need and brought justice to the land.
